Paintings, sculptures, works on paper, and installations by 35 contemporary artists will be exhibited in the galleries of the American Academy of Arts and Letters on historic Audubon Terrace (Broadway between 155 and 156 Streets) from Thursday, March 8 through Sunday, April 8, 2018.
Exhibiting artists were chosen from over 100 nominees submitted by the members of the Academy, America’s most prestigious honorary society of architects, artists, writers, and composers. Participating artists are eligible to receive one of ten awards, which include five Arts and Letters Awards, the Jacob Lawrence Award, the Gwendolyn Knight Lawrence Award, the Willard L. Metcalf Award, the Award of Merit Medal for Painting, and the Rosenthal Family Foundation Award. More information about these awards can be found here.
Works in the exhibition are eligible to be purchased and donated to museums in the country through the Academy’s Hassam, Speicher, Betts, and Symons Purchase Fund. There are also purchase funds available for sculpture. More information about this fund can be found here.
