Ceremonials
On Wednesday, May 18, 2016, the Academy held its annual Ceremonial in its auditorium in Washington Heights, New York City. Over $1 million in awards and prizes in Architecture, Visual Arts, Literature, and Music were presented to 64 recipients, and 14 new members were inducted. Garrison Keillor delivered the keynote address; Michael Tilson Thomas received the Award for Distinguished Service to the Arts; Henri Cole received the Award of Merit Medal for Poetry; Adam Haslett and Jesmyn Ward received Mildred and Harold Strauss Livings; and Vija Celmins and Wallace Shawn received Gold Medals.
